IN 2000 WE WERE OFFICIALLY REGISTERED

Azerbaijan Diabetes League was registered on 14.09.2000 (certificate No.1319) and started operating as a public association.

ADL is the author of many projects and campaigns on diabetes in Azerbaijan. For example, for the first time in Azerbaijan, a summer camp for children and young people with diabetes was organized in 2000.

For the first time, a concert was held on the big stage with the participation of children and youth. For the first time, a hotline has been set up. For the first time in Baku, Sheki and Salyan in 2000, November 14 - World Diabetes Day was celebrated in the streets and parks, pilot training projects were implemented and many other projects were implemented in Azerbaijan for the first time.

ADL's mission: "To improve the quality life of people with diabetes, to protect their rights and to take an active part in the provision of safe diabetes care to people with diabetes."

The organization has been operating within 3 programs since its establishment. More than 300 different projects, events and actions have been implemented under these programs. It should be noted that ADL PU supports the work of government agencies without duplicating their activities. Brief description of the work done within 3 programs:

Within the framework of the medical program, scientific-practical seminars and conferences on various topics related to diabetes are organized. Develops and implements a program of therapeutic training in diabetes, publishes various medical and educational publications and conducts awareness-raising activities among the population. Free medical services are provided to poor, orphaned members. Screening projects are being implemented for early detection of diabetes. In collaboration with ISIM, nurses are trained in Patient Therapeutic Training.

Within the framework of the legal, social and humanitarian assistance program, as its name suggests, work is carried out in 3 directions: 1) For the purpose of legal assistance, a hotline (4980071) was established. Other measures are being taken to raise legal awareness. ADL is part of a working group set up in connection with changes in the legislation on diabetes (for the development of the Law on State Care for People with Diabetes and the State Program on Diabetes). Later, he participated in the monitoring of the implementation of the "State Program on Diabetes for 2005-2009". He is currently a member of the public council at the Ministry of Health. Two years ago, he was a member of the public council at the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection. 2-3) For the purpose of social and humanitarian assistance, the organization's volunteers provided assistance to orphans and helpless disabled people, critically ill patients, the elderly and the needy in their homes within the framework of various projects and completely freely. Under this program, young people with diabetes participate in free or discounted vocational courses in order to accelerate their integration into society. Later, many were assisted in finding employment. With the help of foreign and local organizations, our members in need were provided with humanitarian aid with medicine, food and other supplies. Humanitarian and medical assistance was repeatedly provided to the nursing home.

As President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and as a Member of the Milli Majlis, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva provided personal assistance to ADL from her salary as part of the Physical and Psychological Assistance Program. With this financial support, as well as the support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, pharmaceutical companies and other organizations, ADL organizes special summer camps for children and teenagers with diabetes each year. With the help of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, a 10-15-day holiday is organized in Nabran for elderly members with diabetes. Various projects and interesting meetings are organized for the purpose of psychological rehabilitation.
